We are so pumped to have the Soil & the Sun back at The Camp House!
the Soil & the Sun is corn-fed, Michigan-made, New Mexican Space Music, or Experiential Spiritual Orchestral Rock. Originating in 2008 as a two-piece band, the group has grown and matured into a seven-piece community of friends and musicians. Oboe, violin, guitars, accordion, percussion, piano, keys and vocals, cooperate to create complex harmonies, layered melodies, and driving rhythms. The careful orchestration and intentional instrumentation will speak to your soul.
“Joshua Powell and the Great Train Robbery” may not fit on a marquis, but the name suits the band just fine. Joshua and his folk band borrowed their brand from a 1903 silent Western and have crafted their sound in that sure-footed Americana tradition ever since. The crux of their music is in the storytelling – stories that embrace the fact that we are all human together.
Local band High Meadows Communion will open the night! Amalgamating the sounds of The Avett Brothers, Kopecky Family Band, Luna, The Head and the Heart, and countless other influences, High Meadows Communion wields a truly unique and awe-inspiring catalog of music. Whether it be a foot-stomping refrain or a melodic ballad, their music is consistently a pleasure to listen to.
