“Tending Angels” Songs & Stories Book Release
Sherry Cothran, former lead singer of the popular late 90’s Rock band, The Evinrudes, turned United Methodist Pastor shares songs and stories from the past decade of working with Nashville’s hidden population, homeless, refugees, immigrants and the poor as the senior pastor of an urban parish. Recently, Cothran has become a Chattanooga resident. Her new book, “Tending Angels: Stories From the Frontlines of Heaven of Earth” which is receiving five star reviews from readers, is a collection of heartfelt, inspiring and sometimes tear jerking essays of life on the “frontlines of the world’s pain” as she ministered to some of the most abandoned, traumatized and rejected members of Music City’s population. Her unique presentation of songs and stories is a free community event and a fundraiser for Chattanooga’s Family Promise, at First Christian Church’s “The House”, 650 McCallie Ave, 7 p.m., Feb. 24th.
An award winning performer/singer/songwriter, Cothran worked with indie film producer, Tracy Facelli, on a music video that features a song of the same title, “Tending Angels.” Cothran tells the story of how her encounters with the homeless population often led her to feel as if she might be, as the apostle Paul said, “Tending angels, unaware.” She hopes to show the sacred face of homelessness, highlight how we can find unity in our diversity and inspire people to realize that we are all connected, that when we reach out and help “the least of these” mysteriously, our lives change for the better.
Cothran will have books and CD’s for sale at the event, the book is available on Amazon.
